Nusa Dua Bali, wapresri.go.id – Vice President Ma’ruf Amin had a meeting with the Supreme Audit Institution (SAI) leaders of G20 member countries before giving keynote address in the SAI20 Summit at the Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua Hotel, Bali Tourism Development Corporation (BTDC) Tourism Area, Lot N5, Nusa Dua, Bali, Monday (29/08/2022).

To the SAI leaders, the Vice President emphasized that SAI20 played an important role as a strategic forum for all SAIs of G20 countries to collaborate and contribute in facing global crises and future challenges.

“The Indonesian government supports SAI20, regardless of who the chair is, and hopes that SAI20 can produce strategic and concrete actions to ensure transparency and accountability,” he said.

Moreover, the Vice President continued, the Government of Indonesia also hoped that the cooperation among the SAIs of the G20 countries must be nurtured and sustainable.

In the meeting, the Vice President also congratulated the SAI of India and Brazil that would lead SAI20 in 2023 and 2024.

“Congratulations to SAI India that will act as Chair of SAI20 in 2023 and SAI Brazil that will act as Chair of SAI20 in 2024. I hope that in the next G20 Presidency, the SAI20 will play an increasingly active role in the G20 community,” he said.

Finally, the Vice President expressed his gratitude to all delegates and hoped that the SAI20 Summit could produce a communique that could be a reference for the declaration of the G20 Leaders Summit in November 2022.

“I hope that the SAI20 Summit will run smoothly and successfully, as well as provide benefits in encouraging more transparent and accountable governance through strengthening the role of SAI,” he concluded.

For information, SAI20 was initiated during the Indonesia G20 Presidency 2022 as an engagement group of G20. It was a forum for the Supreme Audit Institutions of G20 member countries to meet and discuss the matters relevant to SAIs, and identify insights gained from their assurance activities. In addition, SAI20 also aimed to build global partnerships with various stakeholders in the G20 ecosystem and community, especially in the areas of transparency, accountability, and good governance.

In the spirit of the theme of the G20 Indonesia Presidency “Recover Together, Recover Stronger”, SAI20 carried two main priority issues, Accelerating Economic Recovery and Supporting the Achievement of SDGs.

Currently, the membership of SAI20 consisted of 12 G20 countries, namely Argentina, Australia, Brazil, China, Indonesia, Mexico, Russia, South Africa, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, India and the Republic of Korea.

Present at this meeting were the Chairman of the Supreme Audit Agency of Indonesia Isma Yatun, President of SAI Saudi Arabia Hussam Alangari, President of SAI Brazil Bruno Dantas, Auditor General of SAI Australia Grant Hehir, President of SAI Argentina Jesus Rodrigez, Deputy Comptroller and Auditor General of SAI India Parveen Mehta, Member of Board of SAI Russia Dmiitrii Zaitsev, and Commissioner of SAI Republic of Korea Eunsok Cho.

Meanwhile, the Vice President was accompanied by the Governor of Bali Wayan Koster, Head of the Vice President Secretariat Ahmad Erani Yustika, Deputy for Economic Policy Support and Competitiveness Improvement Guntur Iman Nefianto, Special Staff of the Vice President for Bureaucratic Reform M. Nasir, Special Staff of the Vice President for Communication and Information Masduki Baidlowi, and the Expert Team of the Vice President Johan Tedja Surya and Farhat Brachma.
