Leaving for Saudi Arabia, Vice President to Perform Hajj

Jakarta, wapresri.go.id – Vice President (VP) Ma’ruf Amin and his wife, Lady Wury Ma’ruf Amin, will perform Hajj during the Hajj season in 2022. According to the Spokesperson of the Vice President, Masduki Baidlowi, this hajj is an invitation given by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Vice President.

“Today, the Vice President with Lady Wury Ma’ruf Amin paid a visit to Saudi Arabia. In this case, the Vice President received an invitation from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to carry out the Hajj procession. This year, the hajj is Haji Akbar, as (the wukuf) in Arafah will be held in Friday. Therefore, insya Allah, the Vice President and his limited official group will perform the hajj procession,” said Masduki in a press statement at the Vice President’s official residence, Jl. Diponegoro Number 2, Jakarta, Tuesday (05/07/2022).

Masduki, furthermore, said that King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud’s invitation for the Vice President was conveyed through the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Indonesia, H.E. Esam A. Abid Althagafi.

“This invitation was delivered by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on June 9, through the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia who came to the residence of the Vice President,” he explained.

In addition, he continued, H.E. Esam also reported about the readiness of Saudi Arabia to organize the hajj pilgrimage this year.

“He explained the latest situation in Saudi Arabia especially in preparing the pilgrimage. It is known that in previous two years, the Hajj procession was absence due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and now it has been safe,” added Masduki.

“As it is safe, then the Vice President was invited by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to perform this pilgrimage. Insya Allah, within a week, the Vice President will perform the hajj procession,” he concluded. (EP/DMA/LHS-BPMI Setwapres)
