Jakarta, wapresri.go.id – Oil and gas have a strategic role in the development of the Indonesian economy. Not only as a source of energy, but also as industrial raw materials and as a driving force for the national economy. For this reason, the government continues to encourage increased growth and contribution of the oil and gas industry so that it can be a more optimal outcome and its utilization can be felt by the community.
“The contribution of the oil and gas industry to other industries will be very beneficial for increasing national capacity that could increase national capacity in the oil and gas sector and other sectors, by which the use of domestic components in the oil and gas industry must be optimized,” said the Vice President of the Republic Indonesia (Vice President) KH Ma’ruf Amin at the inauguration of the Opening of the 2022 National Capacity Forum II, at the Plenary Hall Jakarta Convention Center, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (27/07/2022).
Furthermore, the Vice President revealed, according to the procurement report from 2020 to March 2022, the oil and gas industry had contributed Rp143.6 trillion to other industrial business sectors, such as contributions to the oil and gas supporting industry, the employment sector, MSMEs, transportation, tourism, and health.
“I express my appreciation for the contribution of the upstream oil and gas industry to state revenues, which until June 2022 was recorded to have reached 9.7 billion US dollars or around 97% of the 2022 state budget target,” he explained.
However, the Vice President acknowledged that the Indonesian people remain more to work on restoring independence in the energy sector. For this reason, joint efforts are needed to increase the contribution of oil and gas to the national economy.
“I really support the efforts of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and SKK Migas to achieve the target of lifting oil of 1 million barrels per day and gas of 12 million standard cubic feet by 2030,” said the Vice President.
Regarding efforts to increase upstream oil and gas investment, the Vice President asked the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) to synergize with the Ministry of Investment to prepare strategic steps to attract investors.
“I request that the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, as well as the Minister of Investment, formulate steps that can provide fiscal attractiveness for investors,” he asked.
In addition, the Vice President also asked stakeholders to collaborate in providing support to increase domestic production, especially in funding and improving the quality of technology and human resources.
“I also ask all parties to synergize in increasing domestic production through various supports such as funding, increasing technological capacity and workforce quality, accelerating the certification process, as well as various regulations that support increasing domestic production,” he appealed.
Closing his remarks, the Vice President hoped that the increase in national capacity could continue to be optimized by improving the quality of human resources as well as the industrial sector, thereby strengthening Indonesia’s role in efforts to recover the national economy.
“I hope that our efforts to continue to increase national capacity, through increasing human resource capacity, the role of industry, as well as the use of domestic products, will ultimately strengthen Indonesia’s role in the upstream oil and gas industry, as well as contribute to national and global economic recovery,” concluded the Vice President.
Earlier, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif expressed his hope for the advancement of the oil and gas industry in the international arena.
“In the future, we hope that there will be more and more oil and gas supporting industries that are able to compete at the international level. Hopefully, today’s event can make a big contribution to improving the capabilities of domestic producers so that the use of domestic products will increase and compete globally,” said Arifin.
Also, present on the occasion were Head of SKK Migas Dwi Soetjipto, Governor of Riau Syamsuar, and Governor of East Kalimantan Isran Noor.
