Jakarta, wapresri.go.id – Tuan Guru Kiai Haji (TGKH) Muhammad Zainuddin Abdul Madjid was a great scholar who had an important role in the development of Islamic da’wah, education, and nationalism, especially in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

He was the founder of Nahdlatul Wathan which was now developed as the largest Islamic organization in NTB. He was also the pioneer of madrasa-based Islamic education and teaching in NTB, a persistent fighter against colonialism, and a figure who always fought for the welfare of the people. For his services so great, he was awarded the title of National Hero.

For this reason, as an educational institution at the university level initiated by TGKH Muhammad Zainuddin Abdul Madjid, Ma’had Darul Qur’an Wal Hadith Al-Majidiyyah Asy-Syafi’iyah Nahdlatul Wathan (MDQH NW) needed to continue and realize the spirit, struggle, and the ideals of TGKH Muhammad Zainuddin Abdul Madjid, both in building religious, social, and national life.

“We should imitate and be determined to continue his great work and role. The Ma’had that he founded must be able to continue his himmah and harakah,” said The Vice President (Vice President) KH Ma’ruf Amin while attending the adz-dzikrol hauliyyah or recitation in the context of the online celebration of the 57th anniversary of MDQH NW, Sunday. (14/08/2022).

According to the Vice President, MDQH NW was a real picture of the national and social work of the TGKH figure Muhammad Zainuddin Abdul Madjid. Because, the Vice President added, this ma’had was not only used as a place to produce religious experts (al-mutafaqqihuna fid-din), but also as a place to educate community activists (rijalu muharrikil ummah) as well as a place to galvanize persistent fighters who defended the homeland (al-mujahidunal wathaniy).

“All of his national and social activities are rooted in a deep understanding of religious teachings. This is reflected in the profile of the ma’had that he founded,” he said.

However, continued the Vice President, the national and societal challenges faced by MDQH NW today were no longer in the context of ending colonialism, but in fighting against poverty and social inequality through economic empowerment of the people.

“Therefore, what we must do in addition to preparing al-mutafaqqihuna fid-din, is also to empower the community, especially in the economic field,” said the Vice President.

Closing his remarks, the Vice President hoped that this event could inflame the spirit of TGKH Muhammad Zainuddin Abdul Madjid’s struggle in building the nation and society.

“I hope this adz-dzikrol hauliyyah event can bring blessings and provide inspiration to continue to ignite his fighting spirit,” he concluded.

Previously, Committee Chairman Muhammad Iwan Saputra reported on the series of activities for the 57th anniversary of the NW MDQH which was held in Anjani Village, Suralaga District, East Lombok Regency, NTB Province.

He continued, adz-dzikrol hauliyyah was the culmination of the milad celebration which is intended to remember and continue the virtues that have been exemplified by TGKH Muhammad Zainuddin Abdul Madjid.

“The purpose of holding adz-dzikrol hauliyyah is to continue the sunnatan hasanatan of our Professor, al-maghfurlah Sheikh Tuan Guru Kiai Muhammad Zainuddin Abdul Madjid as well as a gathering place for prospective mutakhorijin mutakhorijat in particular and all of us in general,” explained Muhammad Iwan.

The event was attended by the entire Executive Board of Nahdlatul Wathan (PBNW); community members, students, guardians of students, and MDQH NW alumni; and local religious and community leaders.
