Jakarta. Infrastructure is a basic need for a country to develop.   This need in infrastructure is undoubtedly increasing in line with the the advance in technology, population growth, and ever growing economy. Vice President Jusuf Kalla stated this when officially oepning the Indonesia Infrastructure Week (IIW) 2015 at the Jakarta Convention Center this morning.

Infrastructure, according to Mr Kalla, has been a trending topic in many seminars and meetings, meaning that it is the most important thing for the country now and in the near future. “But we should not be contented with only talking about it. We must work together and take initiatives to develop infrastructure along with private sectors or corporations,” he said.

This is due to the fact that, he continued, infrastructure is an unlimited need, yet the supply is limited.

“That is why I welcome this exhibition as a medium to know the most recent technology in infrastructure,” he said.

In his remarks, the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce (KADIN)’s head Suryo Bambang Sulisto said the exhibition is held at the right time when government just launched its economic policy packages.  “This is also a good occasion for investors to ensure themselves to invest in Indonesia, particularly in the infrastructure sector,” he said.

Public Works and Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljanto, Communication and Information Minister Rudiantara, and some ambassadors also attended the event.
