Merauke, wapresri.go.id – Vice President (VP) K.H. Ma’ruf Amin conducted a visit and greeted the farmers in Semangga Jaya Village, Semangga District, Merauke, South Papua Province, Wednesday (30/11/2022).

On this occasion, the VP said that Merauke has a leading sector in the food sector. Because the agricultural, livestock and fisheries sectors in Merauke have a lot of potentials.

Therefore, to further maximize this potential, integrated management measures from upstream to downstream are required.

“Our determination is to make Merauke become a national food barn in Eastern Indonesia. For this reason, integrated steps are needed that cover aspect of agricultural management from upstream to downstream,” said the VP.

The VP further said that to produce this integrated step, it is necessary to involve stakeholders at the Government level and the community.

“Involving the central government, regional and district governments as well as farmer groups and other parties,” stated the VP.

Thus, the VP hopes that the result of the program can be targeted, in accordance with suggestions and needs and can overcome the obstacles experienced by the local community.

“We want progress, therefore we must also be willing to solve the problems we face. We don’t want to work mediocre, we need acceleration,” added the VP.

“I asked Mr. Acting Governor, the Regent, and the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs to pay attention, and noted it all. I will ask for concrete solution steps so that later the problems faced will be included in the 2023-2024 RPJMN,” he added.

Concluding his remarks, the VP also gave motivation to the farmers present to continue to be enthusiastic about developing Merauke, so that in the future, this area will be more advanced and become a leading area in the land of Papua.

“Let’s continue to increase productivity and protect nature and the environment,” the VP said.

“If we have the same goals, work together, work hand in hand, love one another, I’m sure South Papua will become a developed province in the land of Papua,” he concluded. (NN/LHS- BPMI – Setwapres)
