Makassar. Islamic organizations in Indonesia, including Darud Da’wah wal Irsyad in South Sulawesi, have their strength in their sincerity and attachment with society.

Vice President Jusuf Kalla stated this when officially opening the national working meeting of Darud Da’wah wal Irsyad (DDI) held at Sudiang Hajj Dormitory, Makassar today.

The Vice President further asked DDI to preserve pesantren (Islamic boarding school) as the basis to teach the knowledge and values of Islam.

“This is because pesantren is run based on sincerity and it is more attached to society,” he said.

Mr Kalla expected pesantren to have good standardization.

“Train the teachers (of pesantren) to improve their way of educating their students,” he said.

The Vice President at the occasion expressed his sympathy over the bombing in Sarinah, Jakarta, two days ago. He also appreciated the apparatus that could immediately solve the tragic incident.

“I should give my respect the police and the Indonesian Military who had within three hours resolved the condition with minimum victims,” he said.

Also present at the ceremony were South Sulawesi Governor Syahrul Yasin Limpo and the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) of South Sulawesi office AGH Sanusi Baco.
