Banjarbaru, wapresri.go.id – The Vice President KH Ma’ruf Amin expressed his condolences for the death of the Chairman of the Shura Council of Rabithah Alawiyah, Habib Zein Bin Umar Bin Smith, who passed away to rahmatullah on Wednesday (10/08/2022).

“I want to express my condolences for Habib Zein bin Smith who has just passed away,” said the Vice President in his press statement after opening the One Pesantren One Product South Kalimantan Expo 2022 at dr. Murjani Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan, Thursday (11/08/2022).

Furthermore, the Vice President also recalled Habib Zein bin Smith as a charismatic cleric who had close ties with the government during his organizational journey.

“His association is very broad, his views are clear and his thoughts are very moderate. A scholar who is very tolerant in his association. I think he is a cleric who should be a role model in Indonesia,” recalled the Vice President.

“He is indeed very flexible to get along and very NKRI and cooperates with the government, helps the government, and he is even included in the Mustasyar board or advisor to the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board,” he continued.

On the other hand, the Vice President also revealed his close relationship with Habib Zein bin Smith, which has been established for a long time, both in formal and informal settings. During the trip, the Vice President again expressed his condolences for the death of one of Indonesia’s best clerics.

“I am very close, because at every Rabithah Alawiyah event I am always invited, both formal and in the sense that we talk from heart to heart. So I know him very well,” said the Vice President.

“He is a very respected scholar, namely the leader of the habaibs, he used to be the chairman [Rabithah Alawiyah] and now the chairman of his Shura Council, his advisor. So I want to say Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un,” he concluded. (DMA/LHS, BPMI – Setwapres)
