Jakarta, wapresri.go.id – Vice President (VP) K.H. Ma’ruf Amin and Mrs. Hj. Wury Ma’ruf Amin and a limited delegation today left for the Middle East to conduct a series of working visits, Tuesday (01/11/2022). As stated by the Spokesperson for the VP, Masduki Baidlowi, before attending the COP 27 Climate Change Summit in Egypt, the VP will first carry out a number of agendas at the United Arab Emirates (UAE) including meeting UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan (MBZ).

Using a Garuda Airbus 330 aircraft, the VP and his entourage took off from Soekarno Hatta International Airport to Abu Dhabi International Airport at around 10.00 WIB (Western Indonesian Time). After a flight of about 8 hours and 20 minutes, the VP is expected to arrive at 15:20 local time.

The following day, Wednesday (02/11/2022), said Masduki, the VP is scheduled to have a meeting with President MBZ to discuss a number of strategic issues for Indonesia – UAE at the Al Shatie Palace in Abu Dhabi.

Furthermore, the VP will also meet the President and Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Forum for Peace (ADFP) at the Emirates Palace Hotel.

In addition to meeting the President and Secretary General of ADFP, in Abu Dhabi, the VP will also give a speech at the 9th ADFP Meeting.

“At the event in Abu Dhabi, the VP will attend an international seminar on peace forums. It was attended by various countries and it is interesting that the VP in the event will convey important experiences for the Indonesian state which has been able to manage good relations between religious believers and this will serve as an example of how Indonesia can implement religious harmony and how Islam as the majority of the population in Indonesia.

Indonesia respects and has the same rights between the majority and the minority,” said Masduki.

On Wednesday afternoon, the VP and delegations will leave for Dubai to carry out a series of other activities.

In Dubai on the third day of the visit, Thursday (11/03/2022), said Masduki, the VP is scheduled to have a meeting with Dubai Holding representatives at the Raffles Hotel. In addition, at the same location, the VP plans to meet representatives of the Global Islamic Index Publishing Institute.

“The VP will meet several important officials in Dubai, what will be discussed are the possibilities of cooperation between the Indonesian government and the Dubai city government. (Including) trade relations and economic relations will be intensified, Islamic banks or others, the important thing is that both can be mutually beneficial,” he explained.

On the fourth day of the visit, Friday (11/04/2022), the VP is scheduled to visit the Dubai Branch of the Indonesian Sharia Bank (BSI) Office. Then in the afternoon, the VP and his entourage will leave for Cairo, Egypt.

“The VP will visit BSI because it is the only Islamic bank in Indonesia that has a branch in Dubai. There will be a special visit from the VP,” said Masduki.

Furthermore, in Cairo, said Masduki, on the fifth day of the visit, Saturday (05/11/2022), the VP will meet with students and the Indonesian diaspora at the Wisma Duta of the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Cairo. On this occasion, the VP will witness the handover of 300 scholarships from the National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas) to representatives of Indonesian students who are currently studying in Egypt.

Then on the next day or the sixth day of the visit, Sunday (11/06/2022), the VP will visit the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization. After the visit, the VP is scheduled to go to Sharm El Sheikh to attend the COP 27 Climate Change Summit series.

Moreover, Masduki explained that on the seventh day of the visit, Monday (07/11/2022), at around 12:15 local time, the VP will attend the opening of the COP 27 Summit at the Sharm El Sheikh International Convention Center. At the COP 27 Summit, the VP is scheduled to deliver a Speech (National Statement) on the first or second day of the High-Level Segment (7 or 8 November) according to the order of heads of state/government which currently is still being prepared by the committee.

“The COP 27 summit is an annual UN forum. The forum talks about climate change where all countries must agree to achieve the current level of climate cleanliness. Indonesia has committed itself in such a way and the VP will convey Indonesia’s commitment there, with the hope that the commitments between developing and developed countries can be adhered to,” Masduki explained.

The next day or the eighth day of the visit, Tuesday (08/11/2022), according to Masduki, the VP is scheduled to return to attend the second day of the High Level Segment. After that, before leaving for Jakarta, the VP will take the time to visit the Indonesian Pavilion at the Sharm El Sheikh International Convention Center.
