Cairo, wapresri.go.id – As one of the government’s concrete efforts in building superb human resources, Vice President (VP) K.H. Ma’ruf Amin launched the 3rd batch of 2022 BAZNAS (National Zakat Charity Institution) Al-Azhar Scholar Scholarship at the Ambassador’s Resident of the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) Cairo, Egypt, on Saturday night (05/11/2022) local time.

On this occasion, the VP reaffirmed that the key to achieving Indonesia Gold 2045, namely a more advanced and prosperous Indonesia, is superior human resources who master science and technology.

“The President of the United Arab Emirates when I met him said that Indonesia has the potential to become a big country because it has abundant natural resources and a large population. But I said, yes we have it, but we need science and technology,” he stated.

This, the VP continued, shows that other countries recognize Indonesia’s great potential to become a developed country.

However, what is needed now is superb human resources who are able to manage all the abundant resources in the country.

“So Indonesia has great potential but we also have many weaknesses. Our human resources are not to the extent that we expected,” the VP said.

Therefore, said the VP, the government continues to encourage Indonesian students, as the nation’s best assets, to get the best education both at home and abroad. One of them is by continuing to launch various scholarships, including BAZNAS and LPDP (Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education) scholarships.

“I entrust all students in Egypt to develop better, more updated thoughts, according to developments (of the times),” he urged.

“By saying Bismillahirrahmanirrahim, the BAZNAS Al-Azhar Egypt and Middle East Scholarship for 2022 is officially launched,” said the VP.

Previously, the Chairman of BAZNAS Noor Ahmad reported that today the BAZNAS Scholarship was launched for 300 beneficiaries, namely 100 high school graduates and equivalent and have been declared graduated at the Al-Azhar campus through the Ministry of Religion, 100 people who are currently studying at Al-Azhar in 2017 on the second and fourth year, and 100 others are students from campuses in other Middle Eastern countries.

“Egypt is one of the barometers of education in the Middle East with good quality education, so it is hoped that its graduates will provide many benefits when they return to Indonesia,” he reported.

This scholarship program, said Ahmad, is an effort of BAZNAS to create a superior generation in the future, in accordance with the spirit of BAZNAS to prosper the people through education.

“We only hope that what BAZNAS gives, even though it is not much, will be for all of my brothers and sisters to be able to graduate in Egypt soon,” he explained.

For that, said Noor Ahmad, he will continue to monitor the development of this scholarship. According to him, if with this scholarship the students are more motivated and graduate on time, then BAZNAS will continue to increase the number of recipients of the BAZNAS Scholar Scholarship.

“If later developments are given when scholarships are given, students will graduate quickly, so Inshaa Allah, we will add how much is needed every year,” he explained.

Furthermore, to students receiving BAZNAS scholarships, Noor Ahmad hopes that when they return to Indonesia they will continue to study harmonious thoughts to develop Islam wasathiyah (moderate). This is as BAZNAS wants to develop, namely syar’i safety, regulatory security, and security for the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.

“Thus it will be a hallmark that if the thought is wasathiyah, with the strength and depth of Islam, it means that it is Egyptian graduates,” he concluded.

For information, in addition to the BAZNAS Al-Azhar Scholar Scholarship, BAZNAS has so far launched eight other scholarships throughout 2022, namely the BAZNAS Cendekia Scholarship in 102 campuses in Indonesia, the MAZAWA Program Research Scholarship, the General Study Zakat Research Scholarship, the Mahad Aly Scholarship in 48 partners, Official School Preparation Scholarships, Santri Scholarships, Educational Scholarships (Elementary and Secondary Education), as well as Special Partnership Scholarships for Disability, 3T Regions and Indigenous Tribes BAZNAS 2022.

Besides the Head of BAZNAS, also present at this event were the Indonesian Ambassador to Egypt Lutfi Rauf, as well as representatives of students and the Indonesian diaspora in Egypt.

Meanwhile, the VP was accompanied by Mrs. Hj. Wury Ma’ruf Amin, Head of the Vice President’s Secretariat Ahmad Erani Yustika, and Special Staff for the VP for Communication and Information Masduki Baidlowi. (NN/LHS-BPMI Setwapres)
