Jakarta. The Association of Islamic Students (HMI) with its long history is hoped to align its actions with its core values so that it will revive its dynamism.

“You need to reinstate HMI as a student organization which puts forward intellectuality and innovation,” Vice President Jusuf Kalla told the members of the executive board of HMI visiting him at his official residence on Jalan Diponegoro, Jakarta on Wednesday, January 13.

The organization’s top leaders came to see Mr Kalla to report the results of the previous congress of the organization held in Riau and the coming HMI’s event to celebrate its anniversary.

The Vice President told them that what they are doing now is to prepare what they will do in the future.

“To know if you succeed or not in your organization, we will see in the next 15 years,” he said.

Mr Kalla at the meeting also criticized the bad conduct of some HMI members during the organization’s last congress in Riau.

“HMI needs to review its recruitment and coaching process so that it will create cadres with good quality,” he affirmed.

Regarding the coming HMI’s anniversary, the Vice President, who is also a member of the Islamic Students Association Alumni (KAHMI), wanted it to be held more creatively.

“Make a ceremony that is in the student’s style. I would recommend evaluation and reflection over the organization as the theme for the anniversary,” he said.
