Jakarta. Vice President Jusuf Kalla received the visit of RAND Corporation’s President and CEO Michael D Rich at his office on Jalan Merdeka Utara, Jakarta, today.
At the visit, Mr Rich told the Vice President the background of his research company which has long been operating in Indonesia. RAND, he added, helps design and hold surveys on family life in Indonesia to support government in making decisions and drafting strategic policies.
“RAND is in Indonesia to learn from the country’s best practices in drafting policies and taking strategic development steps,” said Mr Rich.
The Vice President in response told about a case of development in Aceh, ranging from the region’s economic growth and improvement in the infrastructure, peaceful conflict settlement, to improved public heathcare.
They both then talked about recent issues on economy, infrastructure, and security. “It was such an impressing talk, emphasizing on strategies and programs,” said Mr Rich after the meeting.
Mr Rich at the visit went together with RAND’s Chairman for International Strategies Sophia University Ichiro Fujisaki, and RAND’s Director for Asia Pacific Policy Rofiq Dossani, while the Vice President was accompanied by his deputy on government policy Dewi Fortuna Anwar, deputy on human resource development Bambang Widianto, and his expert staff Sofjan Wanandi.
