Jakarta, wapresri.go.id – Vice President KH Ma’ruf Amin received the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to the Republic of Indonesia and ASEAN, H.E. Abdulla Salem Obaid Aldhaheri, at the Vice President’s Palace, Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan No. 6, Central Jakarta, on Monday (31/10/2022).
During the meeting, the Vice President hoped that several things that had been agreed upon by the two countries could be followed up immediately. One of them was cooperation in the field of education, between Nahdlatul Ulama University (UNU) Yogyakarta and Mohammed Bin Zayed (MBZ) University for Humanities.
“I welcome and extend full support for the cooperation between the two countries to build the School for Future Studies and I hope this cooperation can be realized soon,” said the Vice President.
In addition to UNU Yogyakarta, the Vice President also hopes that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Government would cooperate with other educational institutions in Indonesia.
Responding to this, the UAE Ambassador to the Republic of Indonesia, YM Abdulla, said that they had prepared cooperation with other educational institutions in Solo.
“Regarding the planned collaboration between MBZ University for Humanities and UNU to establish a School for Future Studies, we would like to convey that there is also cooperation for partnerships between Islamic philosophy ma’had (educational institutions) in Solo, and we hope that cooperation in this field can increasingly move forward,” said HE Abdulla.
On the other hand, the Vice President hopes that the UAE Government can increase cooperation with Indonesia in the field of Islamic economy and finance.
“Indonesia is in the open position to cooperate more closely [with UAE], especially in superior products, such as fashion, pharmaceuticals, tourism, halal food and beverages. Even Indonesia wants PEA to become a hub for Indonesian exports to countries in the Middle East,” explained the Vice President.
The UAE Ambassador to the Republic of Indonesia YM Abdulla welcomed the cooperation. He even said that in the last six months, UAE had organized 2 business forums involving investors from UAE countries.
“We would like to convey that in the last 6 months, 2 business forums involving investors in the health sector, including vaccines, have been conducted between the two countries. We hope that cooperation in these two fields can be advanced, including in the industrial sector, both in Indonesia and UAE,” concluded YM Abdulla.
In addition to discussing cooperation in the two fields, Vice President KH Ma’ruf Amin also appreciated the UAE’s willingness to invest in the development of the nation’s capital city (IKN), as well as in cyber and intelligence.
For additional information, the Vice President is scheduled to meet with the President of the UAE, HE Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi PEA, on 2 November. In addition, PEA President, H.E. Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is scheduled to attend the G20 Summit in Bali, next month.
