Jakarta-wapresri.go.id Vice President Jusuf Kalla received the Indonesian Television Journalists Association (IJTI) chairman Yadi Hendriana at the Vice Presidential Palace on Jalan Merdeka Selatan, Jakarta, Friday (March 17).

Beginning the meeting, Yadi introduced IJTI new executive board members resulted from the organization’s 5th national conference held last January and their programs.

Yadi told the Vice President, IJTI’s main task is to improve the competencies of television journalists, both within the government institutions and private televisions.

According to him, this role is deemed important and has received recognition from the Ministry of Labor, considering journalists are spearheading the performance of the media in finding and disseminating information quality.

In addition, Yadi said, the program is also motivated by the proliferation of fake journalists that are often detrimental to the community as well as to the image of real journalists.

“These fake journalists often do not heed the journalistic code of ethics and they often squeeze on behalf of certain media outlets,” he said.

Concluding the meeting, Yadi invited the Vice President to inaugurate the opening of the World Press Fredom Digital Conference held in Jakarta in May, in which Indonesia is designated as the host.

In response, the Vice President expressed his gratitude for the visit IJTI and expressed his willingness to attend the conference.

Insha Allah [God willing] I will attend to inaugurate the opening,” he said.

Also present accompanying IJTI chairman in the meeting were some of IJTI executive board members, namely Secretary General Indria Purnamahadi (Indosiar), Treasurer Eman Sulistiani (RCTI), Head of the Inter-Agency Public Relations Dyah Apreyvita Wulansari (GTV), Head of Convergence Division M. Gafar Yudtadi (SCTV), Head of the Advisory Council Imam Wahyudi, Dwi Anggia Relations Institute (TVOne), Head of Advocacy Division Pasaoran Simanjuntak (Trans 7), Head of Organizational Affairs Harik Kurniawan (MNC News), Head of Research and Development Division Irfan Maulana (JakTV), and Jamalul Insan (iNews TV).
