Ulan Bator, Mongolia-wapresri.go.id. On the sidelines of ASEM Summit, Vice President Jusuf Kalla met with Myanmar President Htin Kyaw at Shangri-La Hotel in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, Saturday (July 16).

“Indonesia is committed to continuously promote cooperation in various fields, especially education and health with Myanmar,” the Vice President told Myanmar President.

The aid the Indonesian people for the construction of hospital in Myanmar had been an interesting topic at the meeting as it involves the Indonesian Buddhists Association (Walubi) representing Buddhist community and Medical Emergency Committee (MER-C) which represents Muslim community.

The Vice President said that such cooperation has demonstrated that religious differences are not impediments to collaborate to build the nation.

“It is a proof that Islam and Buddhism can be of mutual cooperation,” he affirmed.

On the occasion, the Vice President appreciated the success of the government and people of Myanmar in holding Election which is essential elements of democratization process. He also conveyed his expectation to the government of Myanmar to support Indonesian companies investing in Myanmar.

Accompanying the Vice President in the meeting were Deputy Foreign Minister AM Fachir, Head of the Vice President Secretariat Mohamad Oemar, and Vice President’s Deputy on Government Policy Support Dewi Fortuna Anwar. (KIP, Setwapres)
