Sidoarjo, wapresri.go.id – In September 2022, the Ministry of Health issued a statement on the reasons for the scarcity of meningitis vaccines in several regions in Indonesia. This is because the producers who work together cannot meet the needs of the vaccine, while the meningitis vaccine is needed as a condition for people who will carry out the Umrah pilgrimage.

In response to this, the Vice President (VP) K.H. Ma’ruf Amin emphasized the need for efforts to fulfill meningitis vaccines for the community.

“We have to prepare the meningitis [vaccine] according to our needs,” the VP answered when asked by the media, after attending the Napak Tilas and Commemoration of the 67th Anniversary of the Confederation of Indonesian Muslim Workers Union (K-Sarbumusi) in Sidoarjo. , East Java, Friday (30/09/2022).

According to the VP, there needs to be a re-examination of the rules for this meningitis vaccine. He also said that he would discuss the availability of this meningitis vaccine to the relevant parties.

“It must be clear whether the obligation still exists. If it doesn’t exist, it doesn’t matter, but if it’s still there, then we have to do it. I think we will talk about it later,” said the VP.

Furthermore, the VP emphasized the importance of the public getting convenience in preparing all the needs for the Umrah pilgrimage, including the availability of the meningitis vaccine.

“Don’t let the Umrah be constrained because there is no meningitis (vaccine). Later we will check again why,” he added.

Meanwhile, when he was asked about the preparation of the financial omnibus law, which highlighted that politicians could become Governor of Bank Indonesia, the VP advised not to change things that were already well-organized.

“Don’t let things that are already good become bad,” said the VP.

“We will see later, we will follow how the discussion in the DPR (House of Representatives) will be,” he added.

Ending his statement, the VP asked the relevant ranks not to reduce public trust.

“The important thing is not to reduce public trust,” he concluded.
