Makassar, wapresri.go.id – Education plays an important role in the development of a country. To that end, efforts to improve the quality of education should be continued to boost added value which in turn will advance the nation.
Vice President Jusuf Kalla stated this when giving a speech at the inauguration of the new building of Universitas Fajar (Unifa) on Jalan Prof. Abdurrahman Basalamah No. 101 Panakkukang, Makassar, on Friday (26/1).
On that occasion, the Vice President also asked the young generation to develop entrepreneurial spirit. “Students must have a strong determination to bring the nation forward through entrepreneurship,” he said.
Not a museum
The Vice President further reminded that a university should always be visionary. “A university that only boasted the success of the past means (the university) has become a museum,” he said.
He also underlined that the great ideals to improve the quality of education is not enough to just talk about, but it must also be implemented gradually.
At the end of his speech, the Vice President hoped that with the opening of this new building, Unifa can continue to play its role in education to create a better young generation.
The inaugurated UNIFA building is a development from the original three floors to nine floors. The building is designed with the principle of green building where the use of energy for air conditioning and lighting is made to a minimum and prioritize natural lighting.
Also attending the event were Governor of South Sulawesi Syahrul Yasin Limpo, Head of Advisory Board of Fajar Ujungpandang Foundation Alwi Hammu, Unifa Rector Sadly Abdul Djabar, and Chairman of Fajar Ujungpandang Foundation Ridwan Arif. (AKS / FM, KIP Setwapres)
