Tanah Datar, West Sumatra – wapresri.go.id. On the second day of his working visit to the West Sumatra province, on Tuesday (Sept. 6) Vice President Jusuf Kalla accompanied by Mrs. Mufidah Jusuf Kalla and some ministers did some agenda in Tanah Datar regency.

They first visited the weaving group Batenggang in Banang Salai, Jorong Tanjuang Modang, Nagari Tanjuang Bonai, Lintau Buo Utara.

Batenggang is one of the five weaving groups developed by Mrs. Mufidah Kalla, who is also the Chairman of the National Crafts Council (Dekranas).

Subsequently, the Vice President, who is also the Chairman of the Indonesian Mosque Council, and entourage attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the rebuilding of Tanjung Bonai Mosque.

The mosque was founded 80 years ago and several times hit by the earthquake. The community and local leaders of Tanjung Bonai are renovating the mosque  to make it more comfortable to be a place of worship and a place of teaching Islamic studies.

The Vice President then observed the Community Academy of Tanah Datar (AKTD) located in Jangko Tigo Nagari, Lintau Buo district.

AKTD is a branch of Padang State Polytechnic and has had 2 batches in three programs, namely Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Information Management. Approximately 90% of iyts graduates have been successfully absorbed in the workplace.

Lastly, before attending a procession of stepping-up the traditional palace Istano Basa Pagaruyung, the Vice President and his entourage got over the traditional tower house Rumah Gadang of Datuk Rajo Penghulu Family in Nagari Tanjung Bonai, Lintau Buo District.

The house with semi-modern Minangkabau architecture used to be the residence of Mrs. Kalla in her childhood.
