Jakarta, wapresri.go.id – The government set a target for a decrease in the prevalence of stunting to 14% by 2024. In other words, the government and all stakeholders must reduce the prevalence by 10.4% in the remaining time. Therefore, the government establishes policies to accelerate the reduction of stunting.
“I ask that the good practice be continued and expanded in scope. I also ask the governors to focus on specific and sensitive interventions that are still low in scope,” said Vice President (the Vice President) KH Ma’ruf Amin while chairing the 12 Provinces Priority Work Meeting on the Acceleration of Stunting Reduction at the Vice President’s Palace, Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan No. 6, Jakarta, on Thursday (04/08/2022).
Responding to the directive, Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin revealed in his press statement after the meeting that the Ministry of Health by identifying 11 specific intervention programs, namely programs related to health, both for mothers or mothers-to-be, as well as for toddlers.
“So, the specific intervention that we provide is for young women so that they do not become iron deficient, then to the mothers during pregnancy not to be iron deficient and also not to be malnourished. And later we will measure iron levels in young women, iron levels in pregnant women, and nutrition in pregnant women,” explained Minister Budi.
At the end of the meeting, the Vice President gave directions regarding the importance of cooperation between local governments and the private sector in efforts to reduce stunting in their respective regions.
“Local governments need to work together and partner with non-governmental institutions, both from universities and research institutions, private sector and philanthropists, professional organizations, non-governmental organizations and development partner institutions, in the implementation of accelerating stunting reduction in their respective regions,” said the Vice President.
In this regard, the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (PMK) Muhadjir Effendy appealed to entrepreneurs to use their company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds to help minimize stunting in children.
“And on this occasion, through my fellow journalists, I call on the company leaders in places where stunting is still high, to really care about the handling of stunting by setting aside their CSR specifically for stunting, and later this will be coordinated by the central government, and the stunting task force in the local area,” said Coordinating Minister Muhadjir.
In addition to Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy and Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, also present at this meeting, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani, Head of BKKBN Hasto Wardoyo, Governor of Aceh Achmad Marzuki, Governor of North Sumatra Edy Rahmayadi, and Acting. Governor of Banten Al Muktabar.
Meanwhile, the Vice President was accompanied by the Head of the Vice President Secretariat Ahmad Erani Yustika, Deputy for Human Development Policy Support and Development Equity at the Vice President Secretariat Suprayoga Hadi, Special Staff for the Vice President Masduki Baidlowi, M. Nasir, M. Imam Aziz, and Assistant Deputy for Poverty Reduction at the Vice President Secretariat Abdul Muis.
