Jakarta, wapresri.go.id – Despite having succeeded in seizing independence from the colonialists 77 years ago, Indonesia will always face various global challenges that are no less severe.

The occurrence of Covid-19 pandemic, international conflicts, food and energy crises, and climate change nowadays were some examples of difficult tests that Indonesia and other nations in the world must face.

Therefore, on the momentum of the 77th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia, Vice President Ma’ruf Amin invited all nation elements to strengthen their unity in order to become stronger and able to overcome various crisis challenges.

“I invite all nation elements to unite, synergize in real work, so that our beloved Indonesia quickly recovers from the impact of the crisis and rises to become a stronger country,” said the Vice President in a congratulatory video on the 77th Independence Day of Indonesia, Wednesday (17/08/2022).

In addition, the Vice President also invited the nation to revive the spirit and tenacity of the national heroes to overcome all challenges, even though the challenges faced nowadays were different from those in the colonial era.

“The challenges faced by the heroes and founding fathers to reach our independence are indeed different from the challenges we face today and in the future. However, our struggle and persistence in defending and fulfilling the independence must be as strong as them,” he stressed.

Because, continued the Vice President, the Indonesian nation was actually a fighter nation, so the fighting spirit of the heroes must continue to be firmly embedded long-lasting in the hearts of the Indonesian people.

“The spirit of national revival which resulted in the independence must always be the soul of the entire nation in fulfilling independence,” he pleaded.

Furthermore, on this occasion, the Vice President also reminded that one of the challenges that must be faced in the future is the fast-changing. For this reason, he continued that the next generation of the nation should master science and technology to compete at the global level.

“Mastery of science and technology is the most important capital to manage change and, at the same time, to win the global competition,” he said.

Lastly, the Vice President asked that the spirit reflected in the theme of the commemoration of the 77th Independence Day of Indonesia, namely “Recover Faster, Rise Stronger” must be transmitted to other nations through Indonesia’s G20 presidency.

“Through the momentum of the G20 Presidency, we transmit the spirit of “Recover Faster, Rise Stronger” to other nations. Therefore, advancement and prosperity at the national, regional and global levels can be realized,” he concluded. (EP/DMA/LHS-BPMI Setwapres)
