Yogyakarta, wapresri.go.id – The struggle of the santri (students of Islamic boarding education) seizing and defending Indonesia’s independence has never been doubted. The government even appreciated the role of santri in guarding NKRI, with the stipulation of Santri Day on October 22, which was based on the call for the resolution of the jihad of the santri to defend independence on October 22, 1945.

For this reason, on the momentum of the 2022 National Santri Day Commemoration, Vice President K.H. Ma’ruf Amin hoped that the young generation of santri to continue the fighting spirit, especially by participating in the efforts to realize the 2045 Golden Indonesia Vision.

“We must inherit the spirit of struggle to realize the ideals of the national founding fathers to build a just and prosperous country. We project that by 2045 Indonesia will become a Golden Indonesia,” said The Vice President in the National Santri Day Commemoration 2022 at the Prambanan Muhammadiyah Boarding School (MBS) Islamic Boarding School, Jl. Piyungan KM.2 Marangan Bokoharjo, Prambanan, Sleman, Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY), Monday (24/10/2022).

Furthermore, the Vice President told the story of K.H. Hasyim Asy’ari and K.H. Ahmad Dahlan. They are figures who, during their lifetime, were not only persistent in fighting against the invaders but also succeeded in establishing large organizations, namely Nahdlatul Ulama and Muhammadiyah.

“I think these two organizations are an outstanding legacy for both of them, as a place where we devote ourselves, such as the one we attend, Muhammadiyah Boarding School, which is a legacy of the influence of K.H. Ahmad Dahlan,” he said.

Therefore, continued the Vice President, the young generation must continue imitating previous scholars and students. According to him, when the previous students struggled to gain and maintain independence, the current students were working to realize a Golden Indonesia.

“If they are called mujahideen, fighters who gave birth to independence, then we must also become mujahideen, of course,” he said.

As for one of the efforts to realize Golden Indonesia, the Vice President emphasized that students must continue to prosper the Indonesian earth by activating its economies through agriculture, plantations, mining, and marine affairs. Therefore, he expects the students must also master science and technology to manage various natural resources in the country.

“What we have to do is how to explore and manage the natural resources that God has given us. The key is superior human resources, a master of science and technology,” he said.

Furthermore, in addition to expecting the students to become prosperous for the earth to realize a Golden Indonesia, on this occasion, the Vice President also hoped that the students would continue to maintain national integrity, Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution, and Bhinneka Tunggal Ika (unity in diversity).

“Because this country was founded based on a national agreement from all elements of the nation, and the santri figures at that time took part in (the preparation) of our country’s constitution,” he said.

Finally, on this occasion, the Vice President advised the students to continue strengthening the unity and integrity of the nation’s citizens, significantly ahead of the 2024 General Election.

Previously, in line with the Vice President, Head of Muhammadiyah Central Executive (PP) Busyro Muqoddas revealed that the theme of Santri Day 2022 is “Empowering to Maintain Human Dignity” in line with the spirit that Muhammadiyah has fostered, namely “Ta’awun (Collaborating) to Build the Nation.”

“PP Muhammadiyah hopes this theme is not just “slogans and discourses,” but let’s prove it for real. This theme still needs to be actualized in the form of real humanitarian, social charity so that the human dignity of the Indonesian nation is maintained, now and in the future,” he said.

Present at the event, the Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Religion of DIY Masmin Afif, all Muhammadiyah Central Level Councils/Institutions, Regional Leaders of Muhammadiyah/Aisiyah DIY, Council for Secondary and Targeted Education and Islamic Boarding School Development Institute (LP2) Muhammadiyah Regional Leadership, and Mudir DIY Islamic Boarding School.
