Manila. On the first day of APEC Summit, Vice President Jusuf Kalla met up with Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos at Diamond Hotel, Manila, today.

At the meeting, President Santos asked Mr Kalla to help reconcile conflicts in Colombia as the Vice President is known as promoting peace in conflicting areas in Indonesia, such as Aceh, Ambon, and Poso. Mr Kalla agreed on the request and said that the Indonesian Foreign Minister and a team led by Mr Hamid Awaluddin had been in Colombia to study about the conflicts in the country.

Conflicts in Colombia have occurred for 50 years, longer than the ones in Aceh which lasted for 30 years.

“We are ready to share our experience in how to settle the conflicts and what to do afterwards,” said Mr Kalla.
