Jakarta, wapresri.go.id – Vice President Ma’ruf Amin chaired a coordination meeting on welfare development in Papua and West Papua at the Vice President’s Palace, Jl. Medan Merdeka Selatan No. 6, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (27/07/2022). The meeting discussed a number of issues, including security conditions, implementation of the New Autonomous Region Law (DOB), and Papua’s special autonomy fund.
At the meeting, the Vice President asked ministries, institutions, and all relevant parties to draw up comprehensive steps to handle the Papua issues.
“I ask all participants to continuously coordinate, formulate, and implement comprehensive steps to create a conducive situation in Papua and also accelerate the process of preparation and implementation of the 3 new autonomous regions in Papua,” he pleaded.
The main thing, continued the Vice President, is how to create better efforts to protect people from all threats, minimize disruption to the preparation and implementation of the regional expansion, and increase the effectiveness of development in Papua and West Papua.
“Including the use of special autonomy fund that must be effective in realizing development for the community,” he added.
Regarding the special autonomy fund, the Vice President specifically asked the Ministry of Home Affairs to evaluate its use to be truly targeted.
“The Minister of Home Affairs needs to evaluate it. Don’t let it disappear or leave nothing to the community,” said the Vice President.
Furthermore, at this meeting, the Vice President also reiterated the importance of formulating an appropriate security operation for Papua that is humanist, dynamic, anticipatory, and collaboratively with a territorial and law enforcement approach.
“I think this is under the coordination of the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs,” he said.
Present at the meeting were the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mohammad Mahfud MD; Minister of Home Affairs M. Tito Karnavian; Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani; Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology Nadiem Makarim; Deputy of the Attorney General Sunarta; Deputy Chief of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) Admiral Madya TNI (Ret.) Teddy Lhaksmana; and Vice Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Alexander Marwata.
While the Vice President was accompanied by the Head of the Secretariat of the Vice President Ahmad Erani Yustika, Deputy for Human Development Policy Support and Development Equity Suprayoga Hadi, Special Staff of the Vice President for Communication and Information Masduki Baidlowi, Special Staff of the Vice President for General Affairs Masykuri Abdillah, Special Staff of the Vice President Arif Rahman, and Acting Deputy for Government Policy Support and National Vision Slamet Widodo.
