Jakarta, wapresri.go.id –The earthquake that hit Selayar Islands Regency, South Sulawesi Province on December 14, 2021, still left grief for the community and local government. This earthquake measuring 7.4 on the Richter scale caused damage to infrastructure in Pasimarannu and Pasilambena Districts. To that end, Vice President KH Ma’ruf Amin asked all relevant parties to be able to work together to support the post-earthquake rehabilitation and reconstruction process in Selayar Regency.

“I ask all relevant stakeholders to continue to work together to support the completion of post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction in the Selayar Islands Regency,” said the Vice President when receiving the Selayar Islands Regent and his staff, at the Vice President’s Official Residence, Jl. Diponegoro No. 2 Central Jakarta, Monday (15/08/2022).

The Vice President also appreciated both local governments and provincial governments who had contributed to the disaster management that hit the Selayar Islands Regency, South Sulawesi Province.

“I send my appreciation to the regional and provincial governments, as well as all parties who have taken a role in the disaster management,” he said.

Furthermore, the Vice President explained that the government was committed to assisting the post-disaster management of the Selayar Islands Regency, by processing the disaster management budget.

“We have prepared a budget at the central or provincial level, as well as in the regions. Don’t let the local government not budget for it, because if anything happens, then there will be difficulties, both in the district and in the province,” concluded the Vice President.

For information, in 2021, a fund of Rp7,3 billion has been approved for disaster management, and the government is currently processing a budget of Rp7,95 billion that was proposed by the Selayar Islands Regency Government for the repair of houses affected by the disaster.

Previously, Selayar Islands Regent, Muh. Basli Ali conveyed that the local government continues to provide enthusiasm and motivation to the community, through paying attention and also providing social assistance to the community.

“For emergency response, the Selayar Islands Regency Government and South Sulawesi Provincial Government have provided logistical support, such as 1,000 basic food packages, tents, mattresses, blankets, baby equipment, kitchen utensils, toiletries, generator sets, roller cables, and water purification packages. ” he said.

Also accompanying the Regent of the Selayar Islands were the Head of the Regional Development Planning, Research and Development Agency (Bappelibangda) Basok Lewa and the Head of the Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency (PUTR) Muh. Ramli.
