Banjar, wapresri.go.id – Since it was first held in 1968, Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur’an (MTQ) has greatly influenced people to love the Qur’an more. It is proved by the Qur’an boarding schools and Qur’an memorization institutions, which have increased significantly yearly. Therefore, in the future, the MTQ is expected to be not only a ceremonial event but also a means to raise religious awareness that is more humane.

“I hope MTQ is a vehicle for practicing and competing to read the Qur’an, and educating people to love and ground the Qur’an more. MTQ is expected to increase religious awareness that is more humanist and open, as well as a form of da’wah to perfect the morals of Muslims and Muslim women,” said Vice President K.H. Ma’ruf Amin in his speech at the Opening of the 29th National MTQ in 2022 at Astaka Utama Kiram Park, Banjar Regency, South Kalimantan, Wednesday (12/10/2022).

Furthermore, the Vice President said apart from being a competition to become a champion, this moment is also an excellent place to become a forum to strengthen the relationship between people.

“I am optimistic that Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur’an can continue to be carried out to strengthen friendship and togetherness so that they can synergize to build diversity, the nation’s economy, and the welfare of the people towards an advanced Indonesia,” said the Vice President.

On the same occasion, the Vice President also appreciated the theme raised in the 2022 MTQ: “With the National MTQ We Improve the Quality of Human Resources that are Qur’ani to Create a Religious and Moderate Society.” The Vice President assessed that the theme was under the pluralistic conditions of Indonesia.

“The Qur’an must be able to be an inspiration in building the values ​​of harmony, tolerance, and harmony, as well as being a solution to various actual problems of the people and nation,” said the Vice President.

Closing his remarks, the Vice President advised all MTQ participants to continue to strengthen their faith through formal and non-formal education.

“I advise MTQ participants not only to pursue victory but rather to foster a strong motivation and desire to master religious sciences related to the Qur’an, both through formal and informal education channels,” concluded the Vice President.

Previously, the Governor of South Kalimantan, Sahbirin Noor, expressed his hope that the 29th National MTQ in 2022 would be successful in its implementation and foster piety and Islam for all Muslims in Indonesia.

“For the community and the Provincial Government of South Kalimantan, they have a big responsibility in the success of [the MTQ]. Both success in terms of implementation and achievements for South Kalimantan and Indonesia. More than that, of course, the substance and meaning of the Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur’an in South Kalimantan Province may make all Muslims love Islam more,” said Sahbirin.

“The success of organizing the National Qur’an Musabaqah Tilawatil is not only for South Kalimantan, but a success for Indonesia because we have succeeded in maintaining the tradition of Islamic civilization with MTQ,” he said.

For information, the 29th National MTQ in 2022 was attended by 1,676 participants (34 provinces). Number of participants will take part in 8 branches of the competition. The eight branches of the competition are the Art of Reading the Qur’an, Memorizing the Qur’an, Tafsir Al-Qur’an, Syarhil Qur’an, Calligraphy, Qiraat Al Qur’an, Fahmil Qur’an, and the Writing Al-Quran branch. -Qur’an (KTIQ).
