On behalf of the government, Vice President Jusuf Kalla expressed his appreciation to all citizens of Jakarta, polling administrators, and security officers both from the national police and the Indonesian military TNI who had made the second round of the Jakarta gubernatorial election run smoothly and peacefully.

“I think the election run very peacefully. There was no incident and all the TPS (polling stations) went smoothly. Thus, we appreciate the whole community, all the officers, all security (officials) who have made the election run very well,” said the Vice President to the media after monitoring the quick count result of the Jakarta election at the official residence of the vice president on Jalan Diponegoro, Jakarta, Wednesday afternoon (April 19).

When asked about the quick count results that won Anies Baswedan-Sandiaga Uno, the Vice President asked all parties including governor and vice-governor candidates to await the official outcome of the General Election Commission (KPU) of Jakarta Province.

“This calculation is not final, although usually the quick count result is not much different from that of KPU,” said the Vice President.

The Vice President then reminded the coming governor and deputy governor elected to keep the unity among people and realize their promises during the campaign.

“We expect the new governor to maintain unity and also later in time to build Jakarta in accordance with what is promised to us,” he said.

This is consistent to what the Vice President stated in the morning after casting his vote in the election.

“Whoever is elected, he should lead the entire people of Jakarta, “said the Vice President.

The Vice President together with Mrs. Mufidah Jusuf Kalla and his children casted their votes at TPS 03 at Pulo, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, near his private home at 10.30 am. The Vice President is listed on number 97 of the permanent voters list (DPT), while Mufidah Jusuf Kala is on number 98.

After the vote, the Vice President stopped for a moment at his private home on Jalan Darmawangsa, then moved to the official residence of the vice president at to monitor the election through television, accompanied by Head of the Secretariat of Vice President Mohamad Oemar, Vice Presidential Expert Team Member Sofjan Wanandi, and Special Staff to the Vice President on Communication and Information Husein Abdulah.
