Jakarta, wapresri.go.id – Accelerating welfare development in the Papua region continues to be the government’s priority in realizing equity in Indonesia. However, carrying out these efforts is not an easy thing. For this reason, it is necessary to strengthen stakeholder collaboration as a foundation for accelerating welfare development in Papua.

“Acting governor as representing the central government must strengthen collaboration with all parties to lay down and strengthen the foundations in development, “said Vice President (VP) K. H. Ma’ruf Amin when receiving three Acting Governors from three Provinces in Papua, at the Vice Presidential Palace, Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan Number 6 Central Jakarta, Monday (14/11/2022).

According to the VP, he is optimistic that the acceleration of development in Papua will be successful, one of which is through the establishment of a New Autonomous Region (DOB).

“We hope that through these new autonomous regions, namely accelerating development in Papua, we can provide faster services and improve people’s welfare,” stated the VP optimistically.

In addition, the VP urged the Acting Governors to make the process of the new province of Papua a catalyst for welfare development in the Papua region.

“I hope that the new province will become a game changer and also a leapfrog in development for the region and the people of Papua,” the VP hoped.

Even though there are still many challenges in the process of developing the welfare of the Papuan people, the VP is optimistic that the Acting Governors of Papua are capable of producing innovations and finding solutions to every problem in their respective Provinces.

“Even though there were certainly many obstacles at the beginning, I asked the Acting Governors to look for breakthrough steps so that things don’t go as usual,” the VP asked.

“Then prepare a roadmap, along with an action plan,” he added.

Concluding the meeting, the VP expressed his appreciation to the Ministry of Home Affairs which had overseen preparations for the realization of a new autonomous region in the Land of Papua.

“I express my appreciation to the Minister of Home Affairs and Vice Minister of Home Affairs who have been intensively overseeing the preparations so that these new autonomous regions can be carried out,” concluded the VP.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs John Wempi said that the Ministry of Home Affairs is fully committed to seeking progress for the Land of Papua, namely by forming a Working Group Team (Pokja) which functions to strengthen support for accelerating the development of the welfare of the Papuan people.

“Indeed, from the beginning, the Ministry of Home Affairs had Working Group Teams for South Papua, Central Papua and Highlands Papua. To this day they are working, and it is they who are preparing by laying the foundations to strengthen,” said John Wempi.

For information, on November 11, 2022, 3 new autonomous regions were inaugurated as well as the inauguration of the Acting Governors of South Papua, Central Papua and Highlands Papua.

Also present on this occasion were, Secretary General of the Ministry of Home Affairs Suhajar Diantoro, Acting Governor of South Papua Apolo Safanpo. Acting Governor of Central Papua Ribka Haluk, and Acting Governor of Highland Papua Nikolaus Kondomo.
