Semarang, wapresri.go.id – Vice President KH Ma’ruf Amin inaugurated the Office of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Central Java at the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque Hall, Jl. Pandanaran No. 126, Semarang, Central Java, Friday (23/09/2022).

Along with the establishment of a new building named Dr. Building. KH Muhammad Ahmad Sahal Mahfudh, the Vice President asked the entire management and members of the Central Java MUI to be more enthusiastic in upholding the MUI khittah (line of struggle), namely making improvements in various things.

“The MUI’s Khittah is the khittah of making improvements (islahiyah) through various activities, not seeking power or glory, but looking for improvements,” said the Vice President.

One example, continued the Vice President, was by preaching to invite people to goodness in a good way. According to him, the meaning of goodness here referred to two things, namely providing benefits and eliminating harm (badness).

“Our da’wah must be, not the other way around, causing harm and not bringing benefit to anything,” he said.

Furthermore, the Vice President gave an example of a good that is categorized as providing benefits, namely the movement of tithing, giving, giving waqf, and giving alms to improve the welfare of the community and build various public facilities.

“The movement to develop Muslim funds to ward off poverty, then also to build physical facilities is part of the beneficial group,” he explained.

In addition, continued the Vice President, kindness that provides benefits could also be in the form of something non-physical, such as good thoughts and studies.

“Initiatives, ideas, good ideas are useful improvements that are non-physical,” he said.

Then regarding goodness which was categorized as eliminating harm, the Vice President gave an example by maintaining the unity and harmony of mankind.

“Nowadays there is a lot of untrue information (hoaxes) and this can divide unity and lead to misunderstandings. Therefore, we must also ward off it to eliminate harm. This is a part that must be done in our da’wah,” he said.

Another example, continued by the Vice President, was when the government avoid the possibility of an energy crisis, food crisis, or financial crisis. It could also be interpreted as goodness that was included in the category of warding off harm.

“According to Syech Nawawi Al-Bantani, the dangers that are expected to come must be prevented, especially those that are already real. It is our duty to carry out da’wah,” he said.

Furthermore, in addition to upholding the MUI’s khittah, on this occasion the Vice President also asked the Central Java MUI to participate in developing sharia economy and finance. According to him, the Central Java MUI must help straighten out the mistaken view that developing sharia economy and finance was a form of love for the world that could neglect the affairs of the hereafter.

“Once again, Syech Nawawi Al-Bantani said that what is meant by love of the world that endangers the hereafter is seeking sustenance by violating (religious) prohibitions,” explained the Vice President.

Meanwhile, developing sharia economy and finance, said the Vice President, was, on the contrary, namely a form of seeking sustenance while still adhering to religious rules.

“Seeking sustenance while maintaining the rights of Allah, without neglecting that obligation does not become proof that the eyes of our hearts are blind, so we love the world too much and forget the hereafter. Even developing a sharia economy is a big jihad because it is a form of seeking sustenance for the benefit of the family and society while maintaining the rights of Allah and not neglecting the problems of religious teachings. Here I say the importance of Islamic economics,” he concluded.

Present at this event, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, Deputy Governor of Central Java KH Taj Yasin Maimoen, Mayor of Semarang Hendrar Prihadi, and General Chair of Central Java MUI KH Ahmad Darodji and their staff.
