West Bandung, wapresri.go.id – Potential threats to the sovereignty, integrity, and safety of the nation can come from within or outside the country. For example, the Covid-19 pandemic and its impacts have caused turbulence in various sectors of life, all over the world. Therefore, strong social capital is needed for all elements of society to maintain national unity in the midst of disruption.

“One of the important missions that can be carried out by the Reserve Component is to increase understanding of global issues, instill social solidarity, and spread tolerance and moderation to strengthen unity and integrity. This social capital is very valuable in supporting Indonesia’s transformation in the future, towards an advanced Indonesia,” said Vice President (VP) KH Ma’ruf Amin in his speech when he became the Ceremony Inspector at the Establishment of Reserve Components (Komcad) for Budget Year 2022, at the Special Forces Education and Training Center (Pusdiklatpassus), Batujajar District, West Bandung Regency, West Java, Thursday (08/09/2022).

Furthermore, the VP conveyed, there are four steps that can be taken in cultivating social capital.

“First, the Reserve Component defense training should be designed in a broad perspective, combining conventional defense patterns and non-traditional threats,” he explained.

Thus, continued the VP, the mindset in maintaining the unity of the country is not only in the perspective of weapons. But more broadly, it can be done on a digital basis.

“Second , it is necessary to develop an optimistic narrative in public communication regarding the role and function of the Reserve Components, so that a collective awareness of all the nation’s children emerges to take part in efforts to defend the country which can be implemented in various forms,” the VP said.

Through this awareness, the VP assessed that Indonesia’s strength would be even greater in defending the nation’s sovereignty and realizing an Advanced Indonesia.

“Third , the promotion of state defense to the younger generation requires innovative breakthroughs,” he explained.

The VP added that this can be done by developing creative and contemporary training so that the state defense program can effectively reach various target groups.

The VP also advised that Komcad, which has now completed the training, can return to their respective places and continue to carry out the mandate they have received well in social life.

“Finally, after completing the training, members of the Reserve Component should maintain their mandate as a Reserve Component while continuing to be an inspiration to defend the country for the community,” concluded the VP.

Previously, Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto, reported on the implementation of the training as well as asked the VP to establish the Reserve Components for the 2022 Budget Year.

“Respectfully requested, VP to establish the Reserve Component for 2022,” asked Prabowo.

In addition to the Minister of Defense, present at this event were the Army Chief of Staff Dudung Abdurachman, Naval Chief of Staff Yudo Margono, Air Force Chief of Staff Fadjar Prasetyo, and Deputy Governor of West Java Uu Ruzhanul Ulum were also present at the event.
