Jakarta, wapresri.go.id – As one of the Islamic organizations with a wider basis, Vice President K.H. Ma’ruf Amin hoped that “Persatuan Islam” (PERSIS) would constructively bridge the people’s aspirations and become a strategic partner of the government in strengthening democracy and nation building. Because, with its strong people basis, PERSIS can impact the wider community.
“We understand together how the founders of PERSIS have formulated the da’wah model scientifically and have a real impact on the wider community,” said the Vice President in his virtual speech at the Opening Ceremony of the XVI Congress of “Persatuan Islam” (PERSIS), Saturday (24/09/2022).
Furthermore, the Vice President emphasized the importance of strengthening the implementation of Wasathiyah Islam through the role of community organizations in providing education and empowerment.
“This effort certainly requires the role of Islamic organizations in a more optimal way to continue strengthening the Wasathiyah Islam among Muslims,” said the Vice President.
“The government realizes that the role of Islamic community organizations in building this nation is also huge, both through da’wah and education, populist social and economic activities, as well as the moral development of the younger generation to face the swift currents of world modernization,” he added.
Simultaneously, the Vice President also conveyed the importance of cooperation in national economic recovery, primarily through empowering MSMEs.
“It is time for us to strengthen our attitude to get up together and rebuild the economy and people’s welfare, especially through empowering micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), which currently become a priority government program,” said the Vice President.
Closing his remarks, the Vice President hoped that PERSIS could continue to contribute to building the country through a da’wah model following the Qur’an and the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad.
“I invite all PERSIS administrators and families to continue and develop a wise and peaceful da’wah model, according to the guidance of the Qur’an, as well as the Prophet Muhammad SAW,” he concluded.
Previously, the Governor of West Java, Ridwan Kamil (Emil), congratulated and expressed his appreciation for successful of the XVI PERSIS Congress.
“Congratulation for deliberation to reach a consensus. Hopefully, we can build an extraordinary organization. We entrust the future to PERSIS,” said Emil.
Present on occasion were Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto, Police Chief of the Republic of Indonesia Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Bandung Regent Dadang Supriatna, and PERSIS Central Executive Chairman Aceng Zakaria.
Meanwhile, the Vice President was accompanied by the Head of the Secretariat of the Vice President Ahmad Erani Yustika, Deputy for Human Development Policy Support and Equality Development Suprayoga Hadi, and Special Staff for the Vice President Masduki Baidlowi. (SM/ LHS– BPMI Setwapres)
