Jakarta, wapresri.go.id – The role of the state in the control and management of natural resources and important production branches is very large, as mandated by Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution. This is entirely aimed at improving the welfare and justice of the Indonesian people.

According to Vice President (VP) K.H. Ma’ruf Amin, if Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution is carried out in a straight line, then economic development will not create a paradox between growth and equity.

“The economic growth achieved will not be accompanied by inequality. The straight path based on the spirit of the constitution is the nation’s economic jihad (fight/strive),” he said while attending the Commemoration of the Constitutional Day and the 77th Anniversary of the People’s Consultative Assembly of the Republic of Indonesia (MPR RI) at the Nusantara IV Building of the MPR/DPR/DPD RI, Jalan Gelora Bung Karno, Jakarta, Thursday (18/08/ 2022).

Furthermore, the VP stated that in order for the constitution to become a strong foundation for the post-pandemic economic revival, it is important to formulate how the constitution will clearly provide an umbrella and direction for the development of the country’s economic activities.

“Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution explicitly and implicitly has actually become an economic guide so that the spirit of joint/collective economic activity through cooperatives goes beyond the economy initiated by individuals,” he explained.

For this reason, the VP advised that in order for the constitution to become the basis for post-pandemic economic revival, the regulations formed must prioritize justice and humanity, and be supported by the function of maintaining order.

“In other words, the constitution is a guide for us to build a stronger post-pandemic system, which is filled with the spirit of glory and goodness, carefully absorbs the aspirations of the people, prioritizes the interests of the community, nation and state above personal interest, group interests, and does justice to the people as the fellow nation’s children,” the VP urged.

Closing his remarks, the VP again reminded that the 1945 Constitution as a state constitution is not only a state document. For this reason, the values, principles, and objectives stated in the constitution must be the main reference in the preparation of regulations and their derivatives.

“The constitution must be a reference, the main source in drafting laws and all regulations under it that cover the life of the nation and state,” concluded the VP.

Present at this event were the Chairman of the MPR RI Bambang Soesatyo, the Chairman of the DPR RI (The House of Representatives of The Republic of Indonesia) Puan Maharani, the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs M. Mahfud MD, the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy, the Chairperson of the Constitutional Court Anwar Usman, the Chairman of the Commission Judicial Mukti Fajar Nur Dewata, Lemhanas Governor Andi Widjajanto, as well as the Chairmen, Deputy Chairmen and Members of the MPR RI, DPR RI, DPD RI (Regional Representative Council of The Republic of Indonesia).

Meanwhile, the VP was accompanied by the Head of the Vice President’s Secretariat Ahmad Erani Yustika, Special Staff for the Vice President Masduki Baidlowi, Satya Arinanto, and Robikin Emhas. (NN/LHS, BPMI – Setwapres)
