Surabaya, wapresri.go.id – Women’s organizations like Aisyiyah are encouraged to create more women-empowerment programs especially in the economic field so that more women are economically independent or even an economic driver.

Vice President Jusuf Kalla stated this when officially opening Aisyiyah’s tanwir meeting first held during the management of Aisyiyah Central Board of the 2015-2020 period at Muhammadiyah University of Surabaya on Friday (Jan. 19) morning.

In the event entitled “Movement of Women’s Economic Empowerment as a Pillar of Public Welfare”, the Vice President also advised that in running an empowerment program, the Muhammadiyah’s women organization to cooperate with parties.

“That is the function of women’s organizations like Aisiyah. Cooperatives can (join to) help, and OJK (the financial services authority –red) can help with the financial system. There will afterwards innovation arise and that is why cooperation is needed, “he said.

On that occasion, the Vice President also appreciated the work of Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah in national development so far.

“I appreciate the progress made by Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah on all the tremendous efforts to build education, social, and health fields, and of course in advancing the ummah, and so on. These all are our main capital to make progress,” said the Vice President.

After opening the tanwir meeting, the Vice President then inaugurated At Tauhid Tower, a thirteen-storey building that will be used to support the educational activities at Muhammadiyah University of Surabaya.

The Vice President hoped that the new lecture building can be a place to generate innovations.

“Thought and innovation are very important to all of us. Of course more importantly (innovation) that is made real, and not just kept in our thought,” he said.
Attending the event were Minister of Cooperatives and SME Anak Agung Gede Ngurah Puspayoga, Minister of Education and Culture Muhadjir Effendy, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of Financial Services Authority (OJK) Wimboh Santoso, Presidential Special Envoy for Dialogue and Interreligious Cooperation Din Syamsuddin, East Java Governor Soekarwo, Mayor of Surabaya Tri Rismaharini, Chairman of Muhammadiyah Central Board Haedar Nasir, and Chairman of Aisyiyah Central Board Siti Noordjannah Djohantini.
