Jakarta. Vice President Jusuf Kalla welcomed the visit of Kim Jhi Yong, CEO of PT Posco Indonesia Inti, and Sukandar, CEO of PT Krakatau Steel, today at his office.

In the meeting, Mr Sukandar told the Vice President PT Krakatau Steel’s plan to join a partnership with PT Posco Indonesia to increase the company’s production capacity from 5.5 million tons/year to 10 million tons/year.

The Vice President welcomed the plan as an effort to promote Indonesia as “the steel champion” in the region.

To realize this aspiration, Mr Kalla wished PT Posco Indonesia as a steel industry investor from South Korea would add up its investment. “Despite the slowing economy, market in Indonesia is still promising and this condition will soon get better,” he said.

PT Posco Indonesia’s general manager Christiawaty F. Kaseger, PT Krakatau Steel’s commisioner Tubagus Farich Nahril, and Vice President’s deputy on economic, infrastructure, and martime affairs Tirta Hidayat also attended the meeting.
