On that occasion, Tedjo reported that the election of Maritime Ambassadors 2016 is currently in the process of recruitment of youth potentials aged 18 to 24 years old from regions throughout Indonesia.

“The ambassadors elected will get the President Cup and will be assigned to disseminate policies on maritime affairs all over the country,” said Tedjo.

The former Coordinating Minister for Politics, Law, and Security also explained that the election of maritime ambassadors is an annual event and part of a series of events of the Archipelago Day.

He further hoped that the Vice President could be present in the final session of the maritime ambassador election in November, and presented trophies to the winners.

The Vice President appreciated the initiative and agreed to attend the event. He also hoped that the maritime ambassadors elected have a good understanding of maritime affairs.

“Maritime ambassador must have the ability to convince people of the potentials of Indonesian maritime, love the sea, and like to eat fish,” said the Vice President. (KIP, Setwapres)
