Jakarta-wapresri.go.id. Vice President Jusuf Kalla Jusuf Kalla and Mrs. Mufidah Jusuf Kalla left for Cambodia this morning (March 19) to attend the funeral of the Deputy Prime Minister of Cambodia Samdech Vibol Panha Sok An, in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Sok An passed away at the age of 66 years on March 15 while being treated at a hospital in Beijing.
In a brief visit to the country that awarded him Royal Order of Sanametrei Grand Cross on September 19, 2011 for the achievement in the field of peace and humanity, the Vice President accompanied by Mrs. Mufidah Jusuf Kalla are planned to pay a courtesy call to Prime Minister Hun Sen at his office, the Peace Palace.
Before returning to Jakarta, the Vice President and Mrs. Mufidah Jusuf Kalla are also scheduled to attend a luncheon hosted by the prime minister at the Spanish Tapaz, Norodom Blvd, Phnom Penh.
As an executive member of the council of the Cambodian’s People’s Party, Sok An was a leading politician in Cambodia. In 1998, Sok An was sworn in as a cabinet minister and minister for the state. Then in 2004, this confidant of Prime Minister Hun Sen was appointed as a deputy prime minister and a cabinet minister concurrently.
