Yogyakarta, wapresri.go.id – After delivering the National Speech “Transformative Leadership to Guard the Realization of the 2045 Golden Indonesia” at Alma Ata University, Jl. Brawijaya No. 99 Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region, Monday (24/10/2022), Vice President K.H. Ma’ruf Amin gave a press statement to public.

When a journalist asked for his response regarding the correlation between the handling of legal cases in Indonesia and the decline of public satisfaction with the government, the Vice President also emphasized that relevant stakeholders could accelerate the enforcement process of legal issues in the country.

“I ask that all cases, which reduce the positive perceptions of the government, are resolved, law enforcement is carried out,” said the Vice President.

According to him, if the legal case can be resolved immediately, it can restore public confidence in the government and affect its image public.

“I hope this will bring people’s perceptions back to the best level because we do not cover up, but instead resolving matters where there are deviations; therefore, in the future, it will be even better,” he said.

“It is necessary to reform from within so that people’s trust will return,” he added.

Meanwhile, Presidential Regulation No. 121 concerning the Establishment of the Steering Committee for the Acceleration of Special Autonomy Development for Papua was ratified on October 21, 2022.

As a Chair of the Steering Committee, the Vice President said that the government would encourage accelerated development in Papua by improving welfare, reducing poverty, and building infrastructure.

“We will take steps to accelerate development towards welfare development in Papua, eliminate various obstacles to prosper, minimize poverty there, also, of course, the infrastructure that is needed,” explained the Vice President.

“Then basic needs, education, and of course, security. We are trying to prevent security disturbances,” he added.

Finally, the Vice President revealed a plan for his working visit to Papua to encourage accelerating development coordination for the Papuan people.

“And various programs that we call the acceleration program have all been designed. God willing, we will soon come to Papua to coordinate it,” concluded the Vice President. (SM/LHS – BPMI Setwapres)
