Jakarta, wapresri.go.id – Vice President Jusuf Kalla received the visit of Adam Malik Center chairman Antarini Malik at the Vice President’s Office on Jalan Medan Merdeka Utara, Jakarta, Thursday (Sep. 7).

Antarini at the meeting told the Vice President on the commemoration of “100 Years of Adam Malik” that will be held around November or December 2017 at Gedung Pancasila building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jakarta.

The daughter of the third Vice President Adam Malik said that at the event, the center will also present Adam Malik Awards to Vice President Jusuf Kalla and the sixth President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono for their roles in realizing peace in Aceh.

“During the event, we would like to present the Adam Malik Awards to you, Mr. Vice President, as the father of the national reconciliation that played a part in bringing peace between Indonesia and GAM (the Free Aceh Movement –Red) that had been involved in conflict for more than 30 years,” Antarini said.

This award, she added, is an appreciation to those who are in line with the ideals of the late Adam Malik who strongly supports the efforts to realize peace, security, and stability of the country and the world.

The Vice President appreciated the event and the award ceremony initiated by the Adam Malik Center.

“Thank you again for this. Indeed at that time, the government of SBY and I are handling the issue. Of course there are criteria (for the awards),” said the Vice President.

In addition to JK and SBY, Adam Malik Awards will also be awarded to Hamid Awaluddin, General (Ret) Widodo AS, and General (Ret.) Endriartono Sutarto.

Accompanying the Vice President at the meeting were Head of the Vice Presidential Secretariat Mohamad Oemar, Special Staff to the Vice President for Poverty Reduction and Regional Autonomy Syahrul Udjud, and Vice Presidential Expert Team member Sofjan Wanandi. (RN/FM, KIP Setwapres)
